Story
Does the Bennett-Lapid government offer hope to Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah?
After being deported from Jaffa in 1948, they moved to Jordan and lived in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of Jerusalem. After the occupation in 1967, they found themselves under Israeli rule - the ruling power that previously expelled them in 1948. What were once their properties in Jaffa are now the lands and houses they can only dream of. After decades of living in Sheikh Jarrah, Hadaya Sabag and her family are once again in danger of deportation along with several other families. Settler's associations with hefty budgets are leaving Palestinian families vulnerable to eviction, with the full support of the government. Palestinian residents have long critiqued the Israeli media and the silence of the Israeli public: “The people of Israel, really, I'm shocked. Why are they still silent and not taking to the streets to tell Netanyahu: enough!"
Ten families have already been expelled from Sheikh Jarrah. In the coming month, the Supreme Court is expected to give the green light to the eviction of four more families. Language: Hebrew Subtitles: English
