Majd Kayyal, a Palestinian journalist from Haifa and web editor at Adalah, visited a work conference in Beirut and was detained upon his return to Israel. Israel's Shin Bet charged him with visiting an 'enemy state', a fate that historically does not fall upon Israeli journalists who travel to Lebanon or Syria. For 5 days he was interrogated and prevented from seeing a lawyer.
Presently, Majd Kayal was released from house arrest but is subject to the following restrictions: he is prohibited from leaving Israel for three months and prohibited from contacting foreign officials over the internet for 21 days. It remains unknown whether he will be arraigned. Language: Hebrew, English Subtitles: English
