Not In Our School

Story Recently Israel lost one of the main figures who defended human rights and women rights in Israel - - Shulamit Aloni, who served as Minister of Education. These days, when intellectuals and politicians eulogize her and praise her efforts to strengthen education and democracy, the case of the civics teacher, Adam Verete of Kiryat Tivon resonates. He was facing dismissal for expressing
controversial opinions to his students. The case of Adam Verete is not an isolated case. Just recently a school teacher at the Gabrieli High School in Tel Aviv refused to allow a student to give a presentation on "Sabra and Shatila" as part of an exercise on Ariel Sharon’s legacy.
