Story
A child's smile, a voice calling, "Daddy!" These are common experiences of parenthood, but they are not taken for granted by same-sex couples. In Israel, men in committed same-sex relationships who long to realize their right to parenthood, must turn to their most accessible option: surrogacy. But surrogacy for male couples is unlawful in Israel and the process on the whole lacks supervision. Male couples are forced to go through the complex process abroad, where their expenses soar. On the other hand, community groups including Gays Against Surrogacy, as well as feminist organizations, claim that the surrogacy process is fundamentally unethical, because of its exploitation of women.
