Moderate Injuries aren't Supervised
Uploaded: 01/06/2017 Duration: 7:40 Minutes Available in Hebrew
Story
Every year dozens of workers are killed and thousands are injured at construction sites in Israel. In August 2016, an amendment was made to the law requiring the closure of a site for two days after an accident that caused the death or serious injury of an employee. The question is why the severity of the defect does not constitute a criterion for the closure of the site, but rather a coincidence or an MDA medic who arrived at the site and defined the severity of the injury as moderate and not difficult. With 17 inspectors and more than 13,000 construction sites, it is no wonder that contractors continue to save money at the expense of workers' safety, while in the meantime, the government is working to safeguard the profit interests of construction companies rather than the safety of workers.
